Rodents are mammals of medium size and small, that are nocturnal. Its most important feature is teething, but possess a pair of incisors in each jaw, cut a bevel, without roots, which grow continuously and are used by the animal to gnaw. The incisors lack enamel on the posterior, so more is spent behind and can be sharpened. Their basic diet consists of fruits, vegetables and roots. They live in all climates and environments, whether on earth or in fresh water, and are distributed worldwide. There are about 400 genera and 2000 species.
