Plants possess various organs and tissues that allow them to grow, develop and fully realize its cycle. The root is the organ that performs the functions of power, by absorbing water and minerals in addition to setting the plant floor. Develop an area where hairs grow dissolved in it. These hairs are microscopic dimensions permanently renewed and are very numerous. On the phenomenon of osmosis, water passes through the outer membrane of root hairs, into the cells of the root cortex and enters the central cylinder of the root. From there, crude sap (water and minerals) is transported through the vessels of driving the rest of the plant. The root is still on the stalk, which serves as storage and transport of substances into the rest of the aerial parts of the plant, as well as provide support for the leaves, flowers and fruits.
The roots grow and branch out to explore the soil in search of water. In hot and humid regions extend only because the water is on the surface of the earth. But in desert areas where water is scarce, the roots can reach 40 meters deep and up to 1 meter in diameter, as is the case of Alhagi Camelorum, kills relatively small increases in Africa. In temperate plants, the root represents 25% of the weight of the plant.
The stems have different sizes and shapes. For example, the trees have wider and longer stems of all plants, which can be sustained because of their woody structure, the sunflower stem is about 2 meters high and 3 inches thick, and is fleshy and cactus large capacity to store water.
As a tower that extracts oil from the ground, the roots grow in search of water and minerals.
