Krill is a small sea creature, up to 70 mm in length, that nothing in dense clusters in the oceans and especially in Antarctic waters. Its protein content is very high. For this reason, it is considered one of the main food supply of mankind. The banks of these animals, belonging to the genus of crustaceans, have average densities of 20 kilos per cubic meter. There are about 90 different species, for food, tiny diatoms absorb through their feathery legs. Usually, they emit a bright light, a blue-green color, to come together to spawn. Some of the specimens of krill at the surface of the oceans, while others are found at depths of up to 2,000 meters.
The birds feed on krill, as well as various species of fish, and whales. The latter are capable of consuming up to two tons of krill in one go.
The thirteen countries that signed the Antarctic Treaty established an office in Australia aimed at limiting the krill fishery, which generally carry out the fishing fleets of various flags, but especially Japanese and Polish.
