Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the most important composers in history. He was born in Boon (Germany) in 1770 and died in 1827 in the city of Vienna (Austria). His father, tenor in the chapel of the Elector of Cologne, was his first music teacher. Ludwig was 5 years old. Already at 14 enjoyed prestige as a composer and performer. She played the piano, violin, viola and organ. He was a pupil of Mozart and he studied briefly with Haydn and Albrechtsberger. In Vienna he was protected by aristocrats, benefited from a pension and admired as a distinguished pianist and composer. Among his works are solemn Mass, his opera Fidelio, sonatas as Moonlight, Waldstein and Appassionata, chamber music and symphonies. The latter stand out the 3rd, Heroic, the 6th, Pastoral, and the 9th, Coral.
Freedom-loving Beethoven had the illusion that Napoleon Bonaparte was to defend it. For this reason dedicated the Symphony N º. March named Heroic. But, when Napoleon proclaimed himself Emperor, the composer changed the dedication.
For the 49 years was totally deaf and could not conducting orchestras, but continued to write music. Compositions from this time, only checked with his prodigious memory.
