Henry VIII was an English monarch who ruled from 1509 until his death in 1547. was the second ruler of the Tudor dynasty, founded by his father, Henry VII after defeating Richard III of York in the battle of Bosworth, fought in 1845. Henry VIII rejected the supremacy of the pope, but did not introduce reforms in religious dogmas. However, the Bible was translated into English, which meant a further step towards self-interpretation of Scripture begun by Luther.
