Martin Luther King was an American cleric who fought for full recognition of the civil rights of black people in his country. Born in 1929 in the state of Georgia in the southern United States. During his religious studies concerned with investigating methods of peaceful resistance, implemented in India by Mahatma Gandhi. While certain groups of African Americans such as Black Power and Black Muslims, used violence, peaceful methods of King were the ones who won massive support. He was arrested several times during their protest. He led the famous march on Washington, 1963, which constituted a turning point in the struggle for civil rights.
In 1964 won the Nobel Peace Prize. This great century black leader was killed in 1968 in the city of Memphis, Tennessee (United States).
At first, the Rev. believed that these protests were incompatible with the struggle for civil rights. But in 1967 began supporting anti-war demonstrations.
