Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher who made momentous contributions in the field of mathematics and philosophy. Born in Samos, and lived between 580 and 500 BC At age 16 he was already famous for his wit and his teachers sent him to the school of Thales, the most famous scientist of his time. Very young numerical table created, over time known as the Pythagorean system, whereby operations can be performed with the first nine numbers. Also excelled in the field of geometry, making a series of theorems among which the one expressing that in a right triangle the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the legs, and which bears his name.
