Internet is a network of computer networks. These are linked by different technologies (telephone line, cable modem, optical fiber) that allow users to navigate from your computer over the network, to communicate, obtain information or provide goods and services. The network is called the World Wide Web (WWW) and the information is crawled by search engines available to the user displays various pages on the Web. Communication can be done through the chat, which is the keyboard or voice chat. At the same time, each user has an email address that identifies you, and from your computer lets you make use of electronic mail or e-mail, through which you send and receive messages or files.
Internet is the result of a project developed in the 80s by the Academy of Sciences of the USA. It was based on the Arpanet network, created by the Pentagon in the late 60s.
The network is growing at breakneck speed. In 1994 there were about 3 million people connected to a network server, four years later, in 1998, 100 million and in 2006 is estimated to be over 1,000 million.
