In the Earth's atmosphere originate winds, air masses coming in motion by the pressure difference between one area and another. Among the various phenomena related to the hurricane winds is a cyclone that forms in the equatorial Atlantic Ocean. This wind, which has a minimum average speed of 118 km per hour, is formed when the warm water of the seas warm moist air that rises. The trade winds from the northwest and southeast, the bump in its progress to the contrary, creates a movement like a giant funnel. Warm air entering the center of the funnel, is forced to rise and cool. The moisture content of the air is condensed and the heat released heats further rotating mass of air rises rapidly and is replaced by cooler air, and so on. The storm rotates at a fast pace as it progresses, and the diameter increases rapidly.
Inside the hurricane is a calm area called the eye, which reaches a diameter of 20-30 km where a light breeze gently blowing and the sky is serene.
